Alignment Engineering Group (ALIEN Group) were asked to provide marine alignment services onboard the Awanuia – a 70m bunker Tanker. Scope of work included alignment and chockfasting of steerable thruster and main engine, as well as generator alignment. Challenges included tight timeframes and engagement with multiple stakeholders.

Initial alignment measurements were taken with the vessel in drydock. Subsequent measurements before and after correction and chocking took place with the ship in the water. Pruftechnik ROTALIGN Ultra and ROTALIGN Touch laser instrument systems were used. Once aligned within tolerance, ALIEN Group engineers supplied and applied Chockfast Orange under the drives.

ALIEN Group engineers completed the correction of all elements to within manufacturer alignment tolerances.
